Sand and Sea Nail Art

sand and sea nail art

Did I mention how much I love textured nail polishes? They have more than a few great applications. In the last nail art, I used textured nail polish to give a bear a fluffy look. In this sand and sea nail art, I’m going to give a sand coloured, cream nail polish (Maybelline Color Show Sandstorm) an actual sandy texture by layering it over a textured nail polish, Nicole by OPI Sand in My Shoes. Both of these nail polishes have the perfect names (Sandstorm and Sand in My Shoes) to be used in this sand and sea nail art. There is also a great tip. If you don’t have the textured nail polish in the colour you desire, layer the colour you want to look textured over any textured nail polish and it will instantly become textured. Keep reading, you will see what I mean when I demonstrate it below.

After my base coat, I applied Nicole by OPI Sand in My Shoes to every finger except the little finger, where I put Wet n Wild I need a refresh-mint [Link] as the base colour, with KBShimmer I’ve seen sweater days [link] layered on top to give the shimmer-y texture of the sea. Another nail polish with the perfect name for this sand and sea nail art!:

Nicole by OPI Sand in My Shoes is a yellow based textured polish. I painted the little finger with Wet n Wild I need a refresh mint, then painted KBShimmer I’ve seen sweater days on top

The Nicole by OPI Sand in My Shoes gives the sandy texture I want, but the sand is this colour:

..not yellow, so I used a nail polish with a perfect sandy colour, Maybelline Color Show Sandstorm, to layer over the yellow Sand in my Shoes

That’s much more sandy looking, isn’t it?

I wanted the detail on the ring finger, to have it looking like the sea washing up on the sand. So I put one of the wavy nail stickers on and painted to the right on the ring nail.

I then painted on the little starfish with Covergirl Coy Coral {link} and dotted with a dotting tool and Snow Me White {link}. The sand texture coming through works perfectly to give the starfish and the wave washing over the sand texture.

This sand and sea nail art is perfect for places where it’s eternally summer or for the end of summer.
